Supervisor of Traffic Planning leads a team reviewing development and permit applications, traffic impact studies, and roadway planning matters. Reports to Executive Manager of Development Engineering & Construction and represents the City's traffic planning interests to Planning and Development Committee and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic vision, leadership, and mentorship to Traffic Planning team; manage performance, recruitment, and professional development of direct reports
Oversee team's review of development applications, permits, and realty requests for compliance with guidelines, engineering standards, Official Plan, and Planning Act
Attend Planning and Development Committee meetings as panelist to provide traffic planning expertise
Attend meetings with Councillors, community members, and external stakeholders to represent City's traffic planning interests
Manage review of large and complex development applications; oversee procurement and management of professional consulting services
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related engineering/applied science program
Professional engineering certification (P.Eng. or applicable Limited Engineering Licence) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario preferred
Minimum 8 years related experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role
In-depth knowledge of traffic planning and traffic engineering principles, practices, guidelines and regulations
Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
