MiWay seeks experienced transit maintenance supervisors to lead skilled trades staff in supervising day-to-day maintenance of transit buses and fleet vehicles in a unionized, safety-critical environment. The role reports to the Assistant Manager of Transit Maintenance and is essential to ensuring vehicle safety, compliance, and service readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise transit maintenance staff in inspection, repair, cleaning, and servicing of buses and non-revenue fleet vehicles
Assign work, allocate personnel and equipment, and adjust priorities to support fleet availability
Schedule maintenance activities and prepare work orders using computerized maintenance management system
Provide front-line leadership by setting performance expectations, monitoring work quality, and coaching staff
Respond to service-impacting failures, road calls, incidents, and urgent maintenance issues
Qualifications
Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician Certificate of Qualification issued by Skilled Trades Ontario
Minimum 5 years experience as Journeyperson following trade certification with exposure to transit bus maintenance
3 years progressive experience demonstrating leadership responsibility including supervision or acting supervisory duties (preferred)
Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence with acceptable driving abstract
Ability to work various shifts including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays
