Temporary full-time Sustainability Specialist position in the Utilities and Environment Division responsible for leading cross-departmental collaboration to implement environmental sustainability initiatives, manage programs and budgets, and achieve strategic climate and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and facilitate implementation of environmental sustainability strategies, policies, and programs by directing team and collaborating with internal stakeholders
Develop sustainability implementation plans including deliverables, schedules, milestones, resource estimation, and budget monitoring
Monitor program progress and quality control throughout initiative life cycle; support development of annual status reports
Build and maintain corporate and community relationships; lead change management and internal/external communications
Identify funding gaps, prepare business cases and funding proposals, and lead funding applications in collaboration with Finance
Qualifications
University degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or related discipline
Seven to nine years progressively responsible experience in sustainability, planning, community development, project management, engineering, or education
Expertise in sustainability including experience in greenhouse gas management, climate mitigation/adaptation, green infrastructure, environmental protection, water conservation, or energy management
Knowledge of generally accepted project management procedures and demonstrated ability to manage projects
Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, coordinate, monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff
