The Township of St. Clair seeks a motivated individual for a temporary (up to 1 month) Museum Helper position at Sombra Museum. The role involves daily museum operations, support for interpretive programs and events, artifact cataloguing, digitization of records, and general museum operations as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily operation of the Museum including security and maintenance of buildings
- Support interpretive programs and plan and execute outreach activities
- Support design and install displays, catalogue artifacts, and research interpretive materials
- Digitize records and archival materials
- Support planning and delivery of events, educational programs, and general museum operations
Qualifications
- Post-secondary student in museum studies, library and information science, history, or related field, or related background in these fields
- Organizational and research skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Museum experience and database skills (considered an asset)
At a glance
- Temporary position, up to 1 month duration
- 16 hours per week
- General museum hours 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM; hours may vary due to events and workload
- Required to work weekends
