Part-time Theatre Technician position at Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, reporting to the Supervisor of Technical Services. Role involves operation and maintenance of backstage equipment, sound systems, lighting controls, and staging for theatrical and musical events, with potential supervision of studio theatre events.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate audio equipment including DiGiCo SD consoles, microphones, amplifiers, and speaker systems; troubleshoot and mix sound for theatre, concerts, and dance events
Program and operate Grand MA lighting control systems; hang, circuit, colour and focus conventional and moving lights; operate follow spotlight
Set up scenery and staging; repair scenic elements; rig flying scenery and operate fly systems; perform scene changes
Set up, troubleshoot and operate video projection systems and audio playback systems such as QLab
Maintain theatre equipment and building; supervise clients and crew in studio theatre venue

Qualifications

Two-year college diploma or university degree in Technical Theatre plus 3 years related roadhouse experience, or equivalent combination
Proficiency with Grand MA lighting consoles and DiGiCo SD audio consoles required
Skills in lighting design, audio engineering, set construction, carpentry, rigging, and stage management
Scissor lift training, Working at Heights certification, and first aid/CPR required
Natural Resources Canada Pyrotechnic Card – Theatrical required within 12 months of hire
