About this job
Part-time casual transit driver position with Oakville Transit, operating public transit vehicles on a shift basis. Positions may advance to full-time based on seniority. UNIFOR union membership required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate public transit vehicles including Specialized Transit safely and efficiently along established routes and schedules
- Assist customers with directions and advice
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and record passenger numbers as required
- Inspect vehicles and report deficiencies, collisions, or other occurrences
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's License Class B or C with Z air brake endorsement and clean driving record
- Understanding of Highway Traffic Act and knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Previous shift work experience desirable
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector police check (at applicant's expense), current driver's abstract, and valid driver's license required before employment
