Utility Maintenance Worker I (Pools) for the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation's auxiliary team. Role involves operating and maintaining swimming pools, chemical control systems, pumps, filtration equipment, and performing routine maintenance and repairs across City facilities including Olympic venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain building standards and monitor building security and safety
  • Operate and service swimming pools, pool chemical controllers, pumps, and filtration equipment
  • Perform routine to skilled maintenance, repair, and cleaning of pools and community/recreation facilities
  • Observe equipment in operation and report malfunctions
  • Ensure observance of facility rules and regulations by users

Qualifications

  • Completion of recognized certification program in Building Service Work with related experience
  • Pool Operator Level I and II certification
  • Working knowledge of water filtration equipment and disinfection systems
  • Working knowledge of janitorial and building maintenance materials, methods, and equipment
  • Ability to operate ice resurfacing and water filtration equipment
