Utility Operator 2 is a regular full-time position in Water Operations, Maintenance & Construction responsible for leading crews and performing semi-skilled and skilled mechanical work on the City's water distribution systems, including construction, operation, installation, maintenance, and repair.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, direct and participate in work of staff to ensure safe and efficient operation of water systems
Assist supervisor on complex installation, repair and servicing work
Perform repair and maintenance tasks including regular inspectional duties for water monitoring
Lead crew in utility construction and repair work
Provide direction to other staff
Qualifications
Grade 12 completion plus technical courses in water and wastewater technology, civil engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience
Considerable experience related to water operations, construction, or maintenance
Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in pipelaying and utility repair
Knowledge of hazards, confined space procedures, safety precautions, and public health standards
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and blueprints
