About this job

Full-time temporary 12-month position in Toronto Water's Technology & Customer Experience division. The Water Metering Technician inspects, maintains, installs, repairs, and troubleshoots water meters and related equipment, responds to customer service requests, and performs confined space entry work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, install, remove, replace, repair, and troubleshoot water meters ≤1 inch diameter and water MTUs
  • Investigate water meter issues including high bills and customer complaints; locate and operate water service valves
  • Activate and winterize seasonal water services; perform confined space entry work in meter chambers
  • Use electronic systems, laptops, and portable devices to record work and access billing/asset management systems
  • Coordinate scheduling with customers and property owners; respond to planned and emergency service requests

Qualifications

  • Must possess or obtain provincial Water Meter Installer Certificate
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain valid Confined Space Entry Certificate with First Aid and CPR certification
  • Secondary School Diploma or approved equivalent, or related experience
  • Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver's license and qualify for City driver's permit
  • Considerable experience in operation, maintenance, and installation of water meters and related equipment
