Permanent full-time Water Wastewater Operator reporting to the Supervisor of Water and Wastewater, responsible for maintenance and operations of water, wastewater, and storm infrastructure including sampling, repairs, confined space entry, and equipment operation.
Key Responsibilities
Water quality sampling and regulatory sampling for lead, THMs, nitrates, and chlorine residual
Maintenance and repair of water, wastewater, and storm infrastructure; confined space entry
Respond to and investigate sewer backups and storm flooding; camera inspections
Operate heavy equipment including dump truck, loader, flusher, backhoe, and compressor
Watermain and sanitary sewer flushing; fire flow testing; hydrant meter service and installation
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Level 1 Certified operator required
Successful completion of Walkerton Clean Water Centre Entry-Level Course for Drinking Water Operators
Ontario Class G driver license in good standing; ability to obtain Class DZ license within 6 months
2 years prior experience in water distribution, wastewater collection systems, and sanitary pump station maintenance
