Temporary full-time weighscale operator at a Toronto transfer station responsible for operating computerized weighscales, processing payments, validating loads, and managing customer interactions for solid waste and recycling operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate computerized weighscales and related equipment to gather data, issue tickets, and collect fees from vehicles
  • Ensure vehicles comply with site regulations and validate loads using radiation detection equipment
  • Gather customer information, enter data, process payments including debit/credit cards, and reconcile point-of-sale terminals
  • Balance and verify cash/charge intake against computer data and complete daily activity reports and financial summaries
  • Respond to inquiries regarding operating procedures, regulations, and fees; open/close scale-house and maintain equipment

Qualifications

  • Considerable experience in front-line customer service
  • Considerable experience handling cash, debit and credit card transactions and point-of-sale terminals
  • Experience with data entry and computer skills in CompuWeigh and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including afternoons, midnights, and weekends
  • Ability to operate computerized weighscale systems, radiation detection devices, and radio frequency identification systems
