Professional social services counselling role in Police Youth Services providing prevention and intervention services to children, youth, and families to reduce negative police contact and criminal behaviour. Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and confidential clinical counselling to children, youth, and families through assessments and therapeutic approaches
Conduct interviews and engage youth and parents/guardians in counselling sessions
Recognize, assess, and deal with behavioural and social problems related at-risk children and youth
Prepare reports and maintain records and files for assigned portfolio
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field with registered professional designation, plus considerable experience in children/youth/family clinical counselling, or equivalent combination
Thorough knowledge of clinical counselling principles, professional standards of practice, and techniques
Considerable knowledge of British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellor's Code of Ethics
Sound knowledge of resources available for at-risk children and youth in the region
Eligibility for Registered Clinical Counsellor or Clinical Social Worker (RCC, CCC, MSW) and valid BC Driver's Licence

70 hours bi-weekly; Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (flexible to 8:00 AM–8:00 PM by mutual agreement)
