Youth Engagement Coordinator

About this job

Part-time Youth Engagement Coordinator role (up to 24 hours/week) with the City of Mississauga to develop youth-friendly community centre environments, mentor youth volunteers, and connect youth ages 10–24 with recreation services and community resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop communication strategies with youth and foster a youth-friendly centre responsive to community needs
  • Support outreach to local schools and raise awareness of youth-friendly activities and community resources
  • Develop, maintain, and mentor youth-led advisory group volunteers and peer-to-peer activities
  • Provide mentorship for youth-driven events and maintain welcoming lobby and common areas
  • Engage youth in recreation services and collect/report participant statistics

Qualifications

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Child & Youth Worker, Community Development, or equivalent work experience in youth services
  • Intermediate or Standard First Aid with CPR C & AED (or Basic/Emergency First Aid with CPR C & AED) from recognized WSIB-provider
  • Valid HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
  • Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check required at hire
